The murder of Theo van Gogh was a despicable act of religious barbarism. But he was NOT our "dear brother of the spirit". He was a supporter of Pim Fortuyn, and a champion of right-wing free-market ideology. His attacks on both Islam and Judaism were often simply racist, and were fuelled by right-wing politics rather than by any love of freedom or poetry. If he attacked religion, it was not because he was our brother: the enemy of our enemy is not always our friend.
Dear Cut (your own) Throat:
Your maniqueist philosophy is not mine. I am not your portuguese gardener.
You have the right to defend Islam and Judaism and justify the murdered of Pym Fortuyn but i am not in that corner. I am in the opposite side of your barricade, not in the left or right wing side, but most in the middle of yours, i am probably your main and favourite target. I doubt you could write a similar comment against the islamic fascists. For instance against iranian totalitarians, the Ayatollahs in the first line. Surely if you did that you will lose your own throat (mine costs less in the free market you apparently fight). Every religions are reactionary and must be deeply critized and attacked. Islam is the most reactionary of them all. Their God is a shit.
Libertarians aren´t a monopoloy of the Left. Left and Right are both reactionary notions and ideologic concepts and something that is most related with military marchs, mainly when one lost the geographic basic orientations. They both simply need traffic signals.
Concerning Surrealism and what it means in day-by-day life, please don´t give me any lessons about that. Oppositely to the people that born in England (just for giving an example, not anything against the englishmen that i respect), we do not ignore what fascism is - their real persecutions (not virtual), their heavy boots, their censorship, their delation policy spreaded to the members of the same family, fellows and comrades.
Oui, nous sommes anti-judaistes, anti-islamistes, anti-catholiques, anti-stalinists and anti-trotkistes, we have suffered their NUMBERS on our skin, nous sommes libertarians!
Your friends are maybe your ennemy now and most in the next future, the islamic fascists and their basic anti-american and anti-western allies.
You are free to dance with the "cutting throats" reactionary islamics like the vodoo dancers. That´s your choice!
Amazing thing that if things runned not so well as you expect you will probably run to the western side!.
LA COMÉDIE D´UN JOUR, bien sur!
Post Scriptum: Sadly i can´t reply you with my real name (on the comments page). I live in a country where delation is now well paid (national socialist party, just one of the new ten commandements). Stalinists and "socialists" are gaining tens of thousands of euros monthly while people like me are living under the circumstances.
Sorry for not mentioning it but you know my name.

You have misunderstood my position. I am not defending the murders of either Theo van Gogh or Pim Fortuyn. But I am not about to embrace them as my "brothers" either.
The Surrealist group to which I belong has issued several statements which attack the current climate of religiosity and which discuss our political responses to it:

I can assure you that I hate both fascism and religion just as much as you do. But I don't think that embracing the right-wing champions of the free market are an effective way of combating either. Theo van Gogh may be your "brother", but he's not mine, and I merely wanted to make it clear to readers of this blog that not all surrealists share your perpsective on this matter.
